I keep track of my spending in an Excel spreadsheet and put detailed information in the comments. I have written a couple macros to make entering data easier.

This macro either creates or opens an existing comment in the active cell. I use Option+Command+n to create a new comment.

If a comment does not exist a new blank comment is created, the font is set to an easily readable font, the shape is set to auto so that the comment automatically resizes as new text is added to it, and the cursor is placed in the comment.

If a comment already exists the comment is opened and the cursor is moved to a new line ready for new input.

• Formats comment to resize itself as text is added.
• Formats text to a readable size and font.
• Starts cursor on new line in to begin entering text.
